Education & Public Health

Dr. LeSon’s medical practice is informed by a background that includes engineering, medicine, and public health. He holds an engineering degree and advanced degrees in public health from the University of Illinois. His academic training included environmental and occupational health, biostatistics, and epidemiology. His clinical training included internal medicine, asthma, allergy, rhinology, and clinical laboratory immunology.

His research on the health effects of secondhand smoke and asthma contributed to the growing body of evidence regarding environmental tobacco smoke and helped inform California’s development of smoke-free workplace legislation, including AB13.

Outside of Medicine

Dr. LeSon has a longstanding interest in teaching, physical activity, and the outdoors. He has participated in solo wilderness expeditions and has taught emergency survival skills and wilderness first aid.

He is also a dual-certified wrestling and judo coach and has spent many years teaching and mentoring young people. He homeschooled his children and continues to value education, discipline, curiosity, and lifelong learning. He continues to support their dream and their academic path at Brown, Cornell, Tufts, and Vanderbilt University.

“Gratitude, humility, and curiosity are the foundations of a fulfilling life.”
